Why do you need to download it? Because when you go shopping or out to eat, all you have to do is check in like you would on facebook and it gives you points for being there! Then you can save up your points and over time redeem them for gift cards and other prizes!
It's so cool! Because if I'm going to Walmart anyway, might as well get rewarded for it right?
You can also scan certain product barcodes in the store to earn extra points.
BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD IT you need to google "promo codes for checkpoints" and you will find a whole rash of people who have created promo codes that you can use when you sign up to get extra points right off the bat.
It's definitely my new favorite app. :-)
